Abstract: A new nonlinear optical material Ba2Be2B2O7 (Abbr.TBO) was synthesized by high temperature solid state reaction.TBO and SBBO (Sr2Be2B2O7)crystals had the same basic structure unit［BO3］.The powder second harmonic generation (SHG) of TBO was twice as large as that of KDP.TBO crystal had good chemical and physical stability,anti-deliquescence and moderate hardness.It was easy to process and polish.
