Abstract: Different morphologies of nanostructured bismuth sulfide (Bi_2S_3) were prepared by hydrothermal method at 120 ℃ for 12 h. The products were characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, HRTEM and UV-vis. The results show that raw materials have great effect on the morphologies of final products and mineralization agents play important roles on the synthetic temperature. The formation mechanism of the Bi_2S_3 nanostructures was discussed. The UV-vis measurement shows that compared to the bulk orthorhombic Bi_2S_3,the absorption spectrum of the sythesized Bi_2S_3 has a clear blue shift which might be ascribed to the size effect.
