Abstract: Shangluo vanadium tailings, potassium feldspar and clay as raw materials were used to make foam ceramics. After determination of the materials formula, the effects of sintering temperature, heating rate and soaking time on the bulk density and compressive strength of foam ceramics were investigated. The high-performance foam ceramics with light weight, high strength and low thermal conductivity were prepared at the optimal firing process. The results show that the optimal firing process is 8 ℃/min to 1000 ℃ from room temperature, and then 3 ℃/min to 1135 ℃ for 30 min.The bulk density, the compressive strength, and the thermal coefficient of the foam ceramics prepared at the optimal firing process is 420 kg/m3,3.1 MPa and 0.09 W/(m · K),respectively.
