ZnS microspheres have been successfully synthesized by a facile hydrothermal method at low temperature. The structure and optical properties and photocatalytic of ZnS sample have been characterized by X-ray diffraction ( XRD ),Field emission scanning electron microscopic (FESEM),transmission electron microscope (TEM),photoluminescence (PL) and UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results revealed that the obtained products were cubic sphalerite ZnS microspheres. The PL spectrum exhibits an emission at about 468 nm and the UV-absorption peak centering at around 276.5 nm,respectively.Photocatalytic performance indicated the degradation rate is 93.15; when the methyl orange solution with ZnS was illuminated after 1 h under nature light. The as-prepared ZnS sample exhibit good photocatalytic property and application prospect.
