Abstract: [Cu2L2(H2O)2]·3H2O(H2L=2-[(3,5-Dichloro-2-hydroxy-benzylidene)-amino]-butyricacid) was synthesized using threonine, 3,5-Dichloro-salicylaldehyde and copper acetate as raw materials. Elemental analysis, IR spectra, and X-ray single-crystal diffraction were carried out to determine the composition and crystal structure. The results indicate that the crystal structure belongs to monoclinic system, space group P2/1 with a=0.6985(2) nm, b=1.0789(2) nm, c=1.9639(3) nm, β=92.182(3)°, Mr=797.34, V=1.4789(6) nm3 , Z=2, Dc=1.790 g/cm3 , μ(MoKα)=1.867 mm-1, F(000)=808, the final R=0.0321 and wR=0.0566 for 7629. The Cu (II) atom is coordinated by one N atom, two O atoms of tridentate schiff base ligands and one water molecule, forming square geometry. The asymmetric unit comprises two Cu(II) L(H2O) and three water molecules. The water molecules are linked by hydrogen bonds.
