Growth and Spectral Properties of Yb∶YAP Crystal Fibers

摘要: 采用微下拉法成功生长了系列不同掺杂浓度Yb∶YAlO3(Yb∶YAP)单晶光纤。X射线衍射分析证实所得单晶光纤均为正交晶系。在室温下系统测试了样品的吸收光谱、荧光光谱和荧光衰减曲线。2.00%(原子数分数)Yb∶YAP单晶光纤在978 nm处的吸收截面为1.14×10-20 cm2,在1 000 nm的最大发射截面达1.39×10-20 cm2,显示出与商用激光二极管泵浦源良好的光谱匹配性。0.25%、0.50%、1.00%、2.00%和5.00%Yb∶YAP单晶光纤中2F5/2能级荧光寿命分别为587、604、682、705和698 μs。结果表明Yb∶YAP单晶光纤是一种有潜力的超快激光增益介质。

Abstract: Yb3+-doped YAlO3 (Yb∶YAP) crystal fibers with different doping concentrations were successfully grown using the micro-pulling-down method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) characterization verified their orthorhombic crystal structure. Absorption spectra, fluorescence spectra and fluorescence decay curves were systematically measured at room temperature. For the 2.00% (atomic fraction) doped sample, the absorption cross-section at 978 nm reaches 1.14×10-20 cm2, while the maximum emission cross-section at 1 000 nm is 1.39×10-20 cm2, showing good spectral compatibility with commercially available laser diodes. The measured 2F5/2 level lifetime for 0.25%, 0.50%, 1.00%, 2.00% and 5.00%Yb∶YAP crystal fibers are 587, 604, 682, 705 and 698 μs, respectively. These results collectively indicate that Yb∶YAP crystal fibers are promising gain media for ultrafast laser applications.
